Groom's Guide To Managing Wedding Planning
Planning a wedding can be stressful for you and your fiancée. Somewhere between DIY favors, floral arrangements and menu options, it’s easy to forget to take time out for each other and the activities you enjoy. Keep these tips in mind to make managing wedding planning easier for both of you.
Manage your time
Make a schedule with your fiancée and take note of important dates and deadlines, so you both can stay on track. Plan out when you want to take care of wedding tasks. Decide when you want to start your wedding registry, search for caterers, find a band or DJ and shop for attire for the wedding party. Planning out your time will make it easier for both of you to take care of the necessary tasks and it will especially help those with busy work schedules. Planning a wedding should not take over your lives –it is something you’ll simply need to incorporate into your schedules until the special day.
Plan “Wedding-Free” time
Before you and your fiancée started planning your wedding you spent quality time together, went on dates and spent Sunday afternoons watching football with friends. Now, all you talk about is your upcoming wedding, floral arrangements and how to handle both of your families.
To avoid becoming wedding obsessed and overly stressed, arrange activities for the two of you to do together. Go out to dinner and see a movie, get together with friends, play pool or throw a Sunday afternoon football party. Consider taking time off for a romantic weekend getaway. Whether or not you plan on taking a mini-vacation, make sure you’re still doing the same things you were before the wedding. Don’t make your entire relationship about planning the wedding. In a few months, the wedding will be over and keeping your relationship strong is what will really matter.
Enjoy the fun aspects of planning
Sure wedding planning can be stressful, but it can be fun too. You might be dreading working on the guest list, but you and your fiancée will love registering, getting your engagement photos taken and sampling types of wedding cake. Enjoy the process and your engagement! It’s something you’ll remember forever.
