Perfect Wedding Away

Lanai - Hawaii

Perfect Wedding Away.

There are no state residence or U.S. citizenship requirements to marry in Hawaii. Before you can marry, an agent for the state must issue your marriage license. The couple must be present when the license is issued and both must be at least 18 years old. There is no waiting period, and no blood tests or shots are required. The license is good for 30 days. The birthplace, names of parents and final divorce decree information (if applicable) will be required on the license application.

A marriage license and marriage certificate are different documents. The marriage license permits a marriage to take place. The marriage certificate indicates that a legal marriage has been performed.

The marriage certificate is prepared and filed by your licensed marriage officiant or performer with the Department of Health. A newly married couple receives one (1) certified copy of the marriage certificate at no extra charge, upon payment of the marriage license fee, which will be sent to the couple by mail (60-120 days) after the marriage has been performed. If a marriage certificate is

needed sooner than this, you can apply for one or more additional certified copies.

Proof of age is required. A certified copy of a birth certificate must be presented for anyone 18 years of age or under. A valid I.D. or driver’s license may be presented for anyone 19 years of age or over.

If previously married, proof of original divorce decree or death certificate needs to be presented to the marriage agent by the applicant if the divorce or death was final within 30 days of applying for a marriage license.

How to Apply for a Marriage License

The prospective applicants must appear together in person before a marriage license agent to apply for a marriage license. Proxies are not allowed.

The prospective applicants should be prepared to provide the necessary proof of age and present any required written consents and approvals. All of the necessary documents should be obtained prior to applying for a marriage license.

The prospective applicants must prepare an official application and file the application in person with the marriage license agent. The application may be completed online. The application will not be accepted if sent by either postal mail or e-mail.

Upon approval, a marriage license is issued at the time the application is made.

The marriage license has a fee. The fee may be paid online or in-person at the time the application is submitted to a marriage license agent.

The marriage license is good only in, but is valid throughout, the State of Hawaii.

The marriage license expires 30 days from and including the date of issuance, after which it automatically becomes null and void.

Is pleasant and dry, receiving only about 37 inches of rainfall per year. Temperatures typically range from 70º to 85º F. But, the weather can vary significantly depending on what part of the island you're on at any given time. Lanai City sits at nearly 1,700 feet of elevation, and the warmer months reach about 72º F

Is the sixth-largest of the Hawaiian Islands and the smallest publicly accessible inhabited island in the chain. It is also known as Pineapple Island because of its past as an island-wide pineapple plantation. The island's only settlement of note is the small town of Lanai.

The island has 18 miles of coastline dotted with remote beaches where you can sink your toes into soft white sand and gaze out at rolling blue waves.

There is no direct service to Lanai from the continental United States. Instead, fly to Honolulu International Airport (HNL) or Kahului Airport (OGG) in Maui, where you can connect to several local airlines with service to Lanai Airport (LNY). For those flying into Maui, you can travel to Lanai's Manele Harbor from Maui's Lahaina Harbor through the Expeditions Ferry service.

Being a small island with a mainly tourist-driven economy, does not have a huge center for shopping. There are no mega malls or big centers that the locals really need to shop at. There are, however, smaller venues and shops throughout the island where you can do some good shopping. The stores are either spread out in different spots or some are located in small shopping areas

Lana'i doesn't really have a very big nightlife. This is one of the smallest islands in the Hawaiian Island chain, and there aren't too many people living on the island. Tourists usually come to the island for a few days and then move on to other islands in the area, so there aren't really any incredible streets or places you need to go to for good bars and clubs.

With its five-star resorts and discerning clientele, dining on Lanai has become a world-class affair. Between the mom-and-pop cafes of Lanai City and the high-end resort restaurants that turn eating any meal into a special occasion, this tiny island has more than enough dining choices to satisfy any appetite.

Those waters are home to some of Hawaiʻi’s best snorkeling and scuba diving, surfing, fishing and relaxing with the dive at “Cathedrals” ranking as one of the best things to do on Lanai. Chiefs like Kahekili would practice lele kawa—the ancient sport of diving off cliffs towards the turquoise waters below.

The smallest inhabited island in Hawaii, Lanai offers big enticements to its visitors. Only nine miles from Maui yet a world away, Lanai can feel like two places. The first is found in luxurious resorts where visitors can indulge in world-class amenities and championship-level golf. The other is found bouncing along the island’s rugged back roads in a 4-wheel-drive vehicle to explore off-the-beaten-path treasures. You’re sure to find serenity, adventure and privacy on Lanai.
